University Hospital Bonn has been operating since 1950, although it received its name only in 2001 when it was officially included in the list of university clinics of Germany. A huge number of professors and doctors of medicine work in 32 clinics of the institution. Patients with any diagnosis will find qualified medical care here, because the clinic is multidisciplinary and it tightly collaborates with private clinics in the region and the University Hospital of Cologne.

Thank to the modern equipment, the qualifications of doctors and the interdisciplinary cooperation, over 300,000 outpatients and around 50,000 inpatients come here for treatment.

Cancer and its treatment are associated with special mental and social stresses for both patient and their relatives. The diagnosis affects many areas of life: physical well-being, emotional balance, plans for the future, financial situation, social relationships in the family, work and friends. In this life situation, the Cancer Counselling Center at the Bonn Cancer Center offers patients and their relatives information on an outpatient basis, counselling and support through individual, family and group conversations.

Today's peaceful use of the area began in 1950, when university clinics were moved from the city centre, to the territory of modern Beethovenhalle, Venusberg. Fresh mountain air and vast forest territory were also appreciated by many politicians who settled on Venusberg since 1949, including presidents Heinrich Lübck, Walter Scheel, Herbert Venus and Willy Brandt.

First surgical and medical clinics were created from two neighbouring former command units, connected by a large audience. At the same time, the external houses of the Medical Clinic, House of Tuberculosis (today the House of Auenbrüger) and House of Infection (today the House of Paul Ehrlich) were moved. It was followed by the ENT, gynecological, eye and skin clinics. In the late 1950s, the main entrance to the hospital, the arch in the tower building (now the administration), was replaced by the main gate to the west. In the 60s, the property was expanded to the south and west, first a psychiatric hospital was built there, and in the 70s there appeared a neurosurgical clinic.
