Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Essen is the national center of the cardiovascular system of maximum care, with an academic profile and is designed to research, diagnose and treat diseases of the heart and vascular system. The center is unique in that it includes not only the departments of cardiology and angiology, neurology, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, pediatric cardiology and vascular surgery, but also institutes of pathophysiology, pharmacology and cardiovascular mechanisms.
