University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus offers its patients a full range of diagnostic methods, surgical treatment, including minimally invasive and robotic operations, antitumour chemo- and radiotherapy and subsequent care in accordance with the latest scientific data. It is supported by experienced psycho-oncologists, social workers, physiotherapists and ontologically trained medical staff.

In general, gynecology (for example, endometriosis and fibroids) are mild, minimally invasive surgical procedures, including robotic laparoscopy. As part of the University's Children's Centre, obstetricians and midwives work closely with specialists in neonatology and pediatrics surgery as a centre for perinatal care. Patients are always provided with maximum treatment options in accordance with the highest standards of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as family-oriented obstetrics.

The University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus is an important partner for medical practitioners, as well as for patients in Dresden and East Saxony.

The clinic comprises 26 departments, 4 research institutions and 14 interdisciplinary centres. Doctors of all departments work together, and patient-related issues are often discussed and evaluated by several specialists. In 2012, the Diagnostic Neurological Center opened its doors. It includes the departments of internal medicine, urology, neurology and radiology.

In spring 2016, a new four-storey building was opened, which housed the emergency surgical department, 17 modern departments, an ICU, interdisciplinary clinics and a nursing home.

There are 1,295 beds and 164 places for patients day care, which makes it the largest hospital in East Saxony. It employs about 910 doctors and around 1,900, nurses who care about the well-being of patients.

The university clinic with its interdisciplinary centres is on a progressive path. Their essential feature is the close interdepartmental cooperation and spatial integration of various medical specialties for the targeted treatment of certain clinical pictures. This improves the efficiency of care and patient satisfaction.
