Hannover Medical School was founded in 1965. For a relatively short time of its existence, the hospital has acquired the highest level of medical services and is today considered to be one of the best university hospitals in the world. High results in treatment are guaranteed by high-tech equipment, medical doctors with extensive practical experience and scientific achievements of the clinic's own research institute. MHH and its research centre are leading in the number of grants allocated for research by the clinic's specialists.

Almost 1,300 experienced doctors and 3,500 of staff work in more than 20 areas of medicine. Here, even the treatment of a young specialist is equal to the treatment of a doctor of medicine, as each doctor, intern or resident is necessarily supervised by a leading expert in his field who personally controls the success of treatment in every individual case.

Annually, an average of 63,000 inpatients are treated at Hannover Medical School and almost half a million patients are treated on an outpatient basis. It is this kind of experience that physicians need to become the world's leading experts.

In order to become the hospital with the highest amount of grant funding, the doctors of the clinic needed to start working closely on each patient case. Today, this approach intensively develops the clinic, and interdisciplinary cooperation gives the highest results for MHH patients.

MHH campus area of 400,000 square meters is located in the Gross-Buchholz district on Karl-Wiechert-Allee and generally occupies more than 50 football fields. The central campus is neighboured by a pediatric hospital, a gynecological clinic, a transplant research centre, the Hans Borst-Centre, and other research and educational buildings, such as a library, residential and administrative buildings. All departments are assembled on the campus.
