Reproductive specialists at Quirónsalud Madrid University Hospital have been successfully restoring women's reproductive functions for many years. Accurate diagnostics and various body tests are carried out to select the appropriate method individually for each patient.
Doctors guarantee preservation of the embryo and complete safety for the woman.
Quirónsalud Madrid University Hospital was the first hospital to use emotional support for female patients.
During the treatment, patients receive:
- constant emotional support;
- personal consultations about assisted reproduction;
- high-quality IVF procedure;
- guarantee of pregnancy.
Artificial fertilizationA simple method, which involves impregnating a woman with her partner's sperm. The patient undergoes ovarian stimulation, which is synchronized with ovulation. The success rate of the method for women aged < 36 y.o. is about 20%. For women aged from 37 to 39 y.o. the rate is 15%, and for women from 40 to 41 y.o. - up to 10%.
Usually, 3-4 cycles need to be conducted. Doctors do not recommend doing more - the possibility of pregnancy gradually decreases.
In vitro fertilization (IVF)A more complicated method, which involves creating an embryo and placing it in a woman's uterus. More intensive ovarian stimulation is performed: the eggs are extracted by means of an ovarian puncture under mild general anesthesia and fertilized in the laboratory with the sperm of the partner. A few days later the embryos are placed into the patient's body. IVF success rate depends on the health condition and age of the patient. Chance of getting pregnant among women < 34 y.o. is 60%, and 30% among those who are older.
Egg vitrificationA method of egg freezing, in which cells are immersed directly into liquid nitrogen, cooling them so quickly (to -196ºC) that they become “glass-like” or “vitrified.” While the slow freezing technique takes hours, vitrification is completed almost instantly. This significantly reduces the chance of ice crystals to form and damage the cell.
Sperm cryopreservationThe procedure is performed during an IVF cycle if the man has difficulty obtaining a sperm sample.
It is also possible to do it during a testicular biopsy (provided that the sperm obtained is suitable for use) and before cancer treatment if the patient's prognosis allows it.
Donor eggsA procedure in which donor eggs are used for fertilization.
Most often used if:
- the parents-to-be are elderly;
- the woman is in an early menopause;
- poor quality of the mother's eggs;
- the patient is taking hormones that enhance the development of the uterine endometrium for embryo attachment.
