University Hospital Basel

High quality at the University Hospital of Basel is based on the mixture of modern diagnostics, best possible treatment methods, focus on the needs of the patient and interprofessional collaboration between specialists. The University Hospital Basel includes 44 clinics, covering the whole spectrum of human medicine, and 8 interdisciplinary treatment centres, serving the basic needs not only of the population of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land, but also of all national and foreign patients. All departments work closely with other clinics or special departments of the university hospital. This ensures optimal patient care.

The University Hospital of Basel, one of the largest employers in the region, has 7,219 employees (as per the beginning of 2018) who treat about 38,000 people a year on an inpatient basis.

The University Hospital Basel is located in the city centre, not far from the Rhine, and is easily accessible by public transport. The buildings are grouped around an idyllic garden and located in the immediate vicinity of the University Children's Hospital in Basel (UKBB).
