Oncology

The Department of Oncology at the Acibadem Clinic treats and prevents cancer, as well as cancer screening and early diagnosis. It collaborates with the departments of surgery and radiology to plan a multidisciplinary approach based on scientific evidence.

Methods of treatment:
Chemotherapy (medical treatment). Aimed at destroying cancer cells that grow uncontrollably due to certain genetic changes. In most cases, several drugs are combined to create a unique mechanism for destroying cancer cells.

Hormonal therapy. Hormonal drugs are used to treat hormone-sensitive tumors, such as prostate and breast cancer.
Immunotherapy. Substances that are naturally synthesized by the immune system are used to detect and destroy cancer cells by stimulating the body's immune system.

Targeted therapy. Treatment with drugs that block the growth and spread of cancer cells by acting on specific molecules that are involved in the growth and development of the tumor cell.

Orthopedics and Traumatology

The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Acibadem Clinic uses a multidisciplinary approach, which involves the cooperation of many departments.

In the department, tomography, corneal thickness measurements, mirror microscopy and a keratometer are performed for accurate diagnosis, which provides data on corneal diameter and refractive power. An excimer laser is used to correct refractive anomalies. Corneal transplantation surgery (keratoplasty) is also performed.
  • Lazy eye and strabismus
    In addition to eyeglasses, the department prescribes eye patches and orthodontic therapy.
  • Laser therapy
    Laser therapy options are available in the department.
  • LCK
    An FDA-approved method that is used in Acibadem clinics. LCK sends radio waves to marks previously made on the surface of the eye to reshape the cornea. This treatment improves vision.

Each of the Acibadem clinics in Turkey is a huge building with an elaborate infrastructure, where everything is done for the convenience of patients. Patients can receive all diagnostic and treatment procedures in their department or on their floor, eliminating the need to run from one wing of the building to another.

Patients who undergo treatment at the Acibadem clinics network are provided with comfortable and spacious rooms designed in a modern style. A standard room is equipped with an automatically adjusted bed, bedside table, closet, table and chairs. There is also a TV set and a separate bathroom.
